Profile:
What an amazing little FM unit. TX-58M has an omnidirectional
rubber whip antenna (SMA post) and is capable of 1/2 mile LOS with
#RX-5800 receiver outfitted with only with standard LNB antenna
(additional high gain antennas available). #TX-58M also has excellent
barrier penetration ability (through 1-3 barriers such as walls
and floors).
Transmitter is ten channel selectable (with a tiny
onboard dipswitch) and is designed for use with our mating #RX-5800
wireless receiver. *TX-58M is 10-channel AUDIO capable as well.
5.8 GHz (or 5,800 MHz) can be a great frequency
to use in a variety of (primarily stationary) conditions where there
is a high probability for interference from 2.4GHz or other RF wireless
equipment operating in close relative proximity to either transmitter
or receiver- or anywhere in between. 2.4GHz frequency video can
be often be problematic due to the advent of so many 2.4 gig devices.
This equipment may include wireless LAN computer networking, 2.4GHz
cordless telephones, alternate video transmission, operating microwave
ovens and other sources.
#TX-58M has been used for some limited mobile purposes-
but is primarily designed for for stationary video. Microwave frequencies
(i.e. UHF 2.4GHz or SHF 5.8GHz) tend to be more directional than
can be 'quirky' in certain situations, such as when transmitter
and/ or receiver are in motion or used around people or animals.
Depending on power and type of antenna(s) used on transmitter and
/ or receiver, user may experience brief periods of no video or
audio while signal re-establishes 'lock'. 900MHz can be a great
alternative to consider since 'competing' devices in that frequency
range are far less common. 900MHz also provides better barrier penetration
and ability for movement than higher frequency devices.
High-quality FM wireless video is amazing and may
work very well for a given user application. However, it is certainly
not 'magic'. Choosing the best frequency/ RF power and the most
appropriate antenna(s) for the given application will greatly improve
user's odds for desired success. A careful analysis of all known
factors and a preparedness for certain types of potential problems
which can never be fully realized until initial site trial and potential
re-orientation of a system. Please read more on our wireless FAQ
page.
The #TX-58M features 12v DC power requirements and
can therefore also be temporarily powered by our #BAT-1/3 battery
packs as well as our #ACC-AUTO fused auto power cord and a variety
of alternative power sources for longer run-time applications.
It should be noted that #RX-5800 receiver and included
mating LNB antenna element feature "F" type connector
post mounts and comes with 2 weatherproof crimp-type F plug ends.
Using a good quality low-loss cable (i.e. LMR type), there are a
variety of solutions for connecting the two with both 'off-the-shelf'
stock and custom options. Please contact us if you require custom
length and type antenna cabling for this (including MIL-SPEC). *However,
this service is provided for our 5.8GHz wireless CUSTOMERS ONLY.
We carry ONLY wireless equipment manufactured with
quality-engineered onboard surface mount board + processor components
(critical to produce a high quality wireless video unit). Too many
in our industry are making false and exaggerated claims about their
inferior products and about wireless video technology in general.
You never have or will find such products or erroneous information
on our site.
Common Applications:
•Wireless point-to-point video monitoring
where multiple channels and/or audio requirements exist
•CCTV video applications which are likely to encounter (mostly
2.4GHz interference)
•General CCTV video and security purposes where installing
hardwired connection is not feasible or possible
•Permanent and temporary fixed location portable surveillance
•Limited range search & rescue and canine operations
Available Options:
External omni-directional transmitter antenna
included FREE (SMA type threaded post) for direct interface
to unit.
Fully regulated AC/DC transformer (wall plug-in
for constant use) and 8xAA #BAT-1 battery pack included FREE with
each #TX-58M ordered.
Our #ANT-58S small parabolic dish increases receiver
range up to 3-4 times (1-2 miles).
Our #ANT-581M large parabolic dish increases receiver
range up to 10 times (4-6 miles).
Variations / Alternate Equipment to Consider:
Also consider our 900MHz #THX-9500 with 500mW RF
output power for up to 1 mile LOS line of sight range with only
standard omnidirectional antenna.
Cautions:
This is a non-weatherproof transmitter, and as such-
must be treated with extra care and NEVER left outdoors without
the proper protective housings.
Because this unit has no built-in 'reverse polarity
protection' circuitry, it MUST be powered PROPERLY and ONLY with
available power accessories to guarantee SAFE
operation. Using improper 'reverse power' (i.e. a power supply with
center pin negative polarity) WILL DESTROY THIS UNIT. Unregulated
transformers marked at "12 volts DC" are more likely producing
18-30 volts, as seen when tested with a simple DC volt meter. While
over-voltage of electronic circuitry may allow operation, but may
also be greatly decreasing device longevity by "over-driving"
and likely overheating that circuitry, which may even result in
immediate damage. Please consult our power FAQ page for more information.
Reception range and quality of wireless performance
is based on a number of factors which can generally be determined
only after actual testing has been made. Please consult our wireless
FAQ page for MUCH more information on this subject.
