Profile:
The #MRX-2400 is an amazing and versatile compact
FM unit- absolutely perfect for a variety of applications. BEWARE
that most 2.4 gigahertz sets you'll find are usually greatly inferior
as a result of substandard engineering and very low (& often
exaggerated or unknown) receiver sensitivity. Many inferior units
in the marketplace can be found costing twice as much or more. It
is capable of greater range when transmitter and/ or receiver are
equipped with properly oriented directional (narrow beam and/ or
high gain) antennas.
Receiver/ monitor is four channel selectable (with
a tiny onboard dipswitch) and is designed for use with our mating
#THX-2400 series wireless transmitters.
2.4 GHz (or 2,400 MHz) can be a great frequency
to use in conditions where there is no other 2.4GHz equipment operating
in close relative proximity to either transmitter or receiver- or
anywhere in between. Alternate 2.4GHz frequency equipment (which
may include wireless LAN computer networking, 2.4 gig cordless telephones,
alternate video transmission, operating microwave ovens and other
sources) may cause and/ or receive some sort of interference in
one or all devices present, depending on output power(s) and other
variables.
When used in conjuction with our mating THX-2400
series transmitter units, the #MRX-2400 can be a great a solution
for a WIDE variety of uses- both mobile and stationary. However,
microwave frequencies (i.e. UHF 2.4GHz or SHF 5.8GHz) tend to be
more directional than can be 'quirky' in certain situations, such
as when transmitter and/ or receiver are in motion or used around
people or animals. Depending on power and type of antenna(s) used
on transmitter and / or receiver, user may experience brief periods
of no video or audio while signal re-establishes 'lock'. 900MHz
can be a great alternative to consider since 'competing' devices
in that frequency range are far less common. 900MHz also provides
better barrier penetration and ability for movement than higher
frequency devices.
High-quality FM wireless video is amazing and may
work very well for a given user application. However, it is certainly
not 'magic'. Choosing the best frequency/ RF power and the most
appropriate antenna(s) for the given application will greatly improve
user's odds for desired success. A careful analysis of all known
factors and a preparedness for certain types of potential problems
which can never be fully realized until initial site trial and potential
re-orientation of a system. Please read more on our wireless FAQ
page.
We carry ONLY wireless equipment manufactured with
quality-engineered onboard surface mount board + processor components
(critical to produce a high quality wireless video unit). Too many
in our industry are making false and exaggerated claims about their
inferior products and about wireless video technology in general.
You never have or will find such products or erroneous information
on our site.
Common Applications:
•Mobile and fixed location portable surveillance
•General CCTV video and security purposes where installing
hardwired connection is not feasible or possible
•Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and R/C (radio controlled)
vehicle applications including robotics
•Realtime monitoring of children, elderly and disabled people
•Limited range search & rescue and canine operations
Available Options:
External omni-directional transmitter antenna
included FREE (SMA type threaded post) for direct interface
to unit.
Fully regulated #PWR-500R AC/DC transformer (wall
plug-in for constant use) and 8xAA #BAT-1 battery pack included
FREE with each #MRX-2400 ordered.
The #MRX-2400 features identical power requirements
to many of our transmitters and cameras and can therefore also be
powered by our #BAT-3 and #BAT-AAA battery packs as well as our
#ACC-AUTO fused vehicle power cord.
Our #ANT-24M magnetic mount + low-loss extension
cable (with SMA plug) allows user to stretch antenna distance away
from a transmitter or receiver, such as outside a building or to
the rooftop of a vehicle. Elevated #ANT-24M antenna(s) can facilitate
a much better LOS line of sight condition between transmitter and
receiver in crowded rooms, etc., which often results in better range
and performance.
Our #ANT-2412 and #ANT-2418 flat panel antennas
are excellent for point-to-point fixed locations outside building(s).
They are much lower in physical profile than Yagi or parabolic dish
types, and have a wider angle reception ability. *Requires available
N-SMA type cable for direct interface.
Our #ANT-Y24 high gain Yagi antenna allows user
to MAXIMIZE range in LOS conditions by concentrating radio signal
into a narrow, directional beam. *Requires available N-SMA type
cable for direct interface.
The #ANT-Y24X
high gain Yagi antenna provides the absolute MAXIMUM range in LOS
conditions by concentrating radio signal into a narrow, directional
beam. *Requires available N-SMA type cable for direct interface.
*External high gain antennas #ANT-2412/18, #ANT-Y24
feature "N" type post jacks. TO interface directly with
most of our transmitters or receivers (which feature SMA type post),
you must use the proper "N-SMA" type cable. We carry 2
versions (3 ft. #N-SMA3 and 10 ft. #N-SMA10) which are LMR-195 (low
signal loss) cables suitable for both 2.4 GHz and 900 MHz antenna
applications.
Please contact us for additional 2.4 GHz antenna
solutions including a longer 13dB Yagi and a parabolic grid dish,
as well as amplified flat panel antennas.
Variations / Alternate Equipment to Consider:
We also carry the #RX-2410 compact receiver-only
(no screen but dual RCA AV outputs).
Cautions:
This is a non-weatherproof receiver, and as such-
must be treated with extra care and NEVER left outdoors without
the proper protective housings.
Because this unit has no built-in 'reverse polarity
protection' circuitry, it MUST be powered PROPERLY and ONLY with
available power accessories to guarantee SAFE
operation. Using improper 'reverse power' (i.e. a power supply with
center pin negative polarity) WILL DESTROY THIS UNIT. Unregulated
transformers marked at "12 volts DC" are more likely producing
18-30 volts, as seen when tested with a simple DC volt meter. While
over-voltage of electronic circuitry may allow operation, but may
also be greatly decreasing device longevity by "over-driving"
and likely overheating that circuitry, which may even result in
immediate damage. Please consult our power FAQ page for more information.
Reception range and quality of wireless performance
is based on a number of factors which can generally be determined
only after actual testing has been made. Please consult our wireless
FAQ page for MUCH more information on this subject.
This type of wireless equipment is typically more
suited for CCTV camera and security applications, rather than with
consumer entertainment-type devices.
As an audio-capable device, user must accept full

if applicable) existing laws.
