When video is played back on the built-in mini monitor, picture looks VERY sharp and vivid. Everyone we've showed them to has been shocked when video is played back on its own screen. And even when played on a larger monitor either through the TV composite outputs or on the proprietary viewer program, the video is generally considered excellent. User will notice a relatively slight 'tiling' effect on the video in larger screen formats, though visually MUCH better than those which spec at 320 x 240 only.
NOTE: this unit does feature timer recording but does NOT have a time/ date stamp.

Variations / Alternate Equipment to Consider:

Cautions:
AGAIN, this unit will NEVER be advertised or described as a 'high resolution' recorder as you MAY have seen elsewhere. To some, it will be considered excellent. We consider end video quality to be "very good +". To those who require truly high resolution video, the quality might be considered sub-standard. For the size and price, we know of nothing else which provides the overall value, abilities and performance of the MDVR-3.
Some users wish to modify the digital file after the fact, such as with external editing software. WE DO NOT MAKE ANY guarantees for compatibility with ANY other software viewing or editing programs. Only that it works fine when used in conjunction with its own proprietary software (includes Ulead Toolbox program) or with composite video equipment. ** Many who would use with a separate editing program may find it easier to re-record the composite output video + audio signal(s) directly into the inputs of a standalone composite DVD recorder (not burner) and then to use that DVD to edit with your desired program. This extra step may in fact be the easiest, best or- in some cases the only way to make the recorded format 'friendly' to other programs.
