What a super placement
- nobody EVER spots this lens! Don't confuse this with most similar-looking
'factory-made' covert cameras you'll find out there- many of which
are complete junk. These are handcrafted in the USA by our specialty
technicians. The technical specifications (specs) haven't changed
in over 3 years - but the performance sure has! The same "380+
horizontal TV lines / 0.5 lux" cam now has an overall sharper
picture capable of performing in lower light situations than even
the last revision version. The WDC-22 has even blown some "high
resolution" 480 line cameras away in side-by-side comparisons
for true visual clarity and color.
A great choice for many
stationary ceiling mount applications- whether for covert / hidden
/ disguised purposes..... or just general video surveillance (hallways,
etc.). With the newly revised 1/3" Sony SuperHAD DSP (digital
signal processing) CCD imager chipset- this features identical picture
quality to our enclosed case CC-7HAD configurations, as well as
the exposed board CC-1HAD.
Acoustical tile 'drop'
ceilings tend to be ideal for this unit. Since the single power
cable (10 ft.) extends from the very top of the camera, a 'good'
mount requires a small hole be made in the ceiling above unit to
run power cable through. Camera can then be powered by a regulated
transformer or even a battery pack for more temporary placements.
Then, wiring itself is out of sight and can often be run several
rooms away (or across a building with the proper extensions) to
the monitor and/ or recorder.
View of camera is a wide
angle, and the camera itself is mounted at a diagonal downward tilt
from side of camera (mounted straight from the side or bottom would
result in viewing ceiling or the tops of subjects heads only!).
When used with low ceilings, user tends to get great close-ups of
passers by, but not much else. A 10-15' ceiling is considered ideal
for many 'total room coverage' applications. Even higher ceilings
allow more square footage of activity to be captured, but view may
sacrifice some detail since subjects will be further away and therefore
smaller in picture.

Cautions:
You should always give
careful consideration when choosing covert products. Oftentimes,
customers don't fully consider some of the practical logistics before
making a purchase, only to later realize that a particular placement
really isn't feasible. Smoke detector cameras are great for a variety
of placements, but have some limitations (read more above).
This is a NON-weatherproof
camera, and as such- must be treated with extra care and NEVER left
outdoors.
